Dean's Office

Dean's OfficeWelcome to the College of Engineering Technology!

As a student in the College of Engineering Technology (CET), you will learn the latest technology and industry knowledge from our faculty. You will have a first-class, hands-on educational experience that will allow you to hit the ground running the first day on the job. Our graduates have a 100 percent placement upon graduation in most of our programs; and with their degree of education, they enter the workforce with an above- average pay scale.

The CET currently offers 33 degree programs  and is recognized by the American Society of Engineering Education as awarding the most bachelor’s degrees and being in the top five for women receiving a bachelor’s degree nationwide. This is in comparison to schools like Michigan Technological University, Purdue University, Wayne State University and Western Michigan University. So, whether you are interested in Automotive Engineering Technology, managing the construction of a nuclear power plant, or making a building more energy efficient, Ferris can get you there.

We work closely with industry leaders and our graduates by having them participate in academic advisory boards and project partnerships. This helps us to keep our education current so we can expose you to the latest technologies and future trends.

As a student you are able to participant in competitions like the national Rube Goldberg Machine Contest held at Purdue University, which Ferris won in 2007. Ferris also hosts competitions for future students such as the Spaghetti Bridge Competition and the State Secondary Welding Competition.

As an educational institution not only do we want to prepare you for a successful career, but we also work with and help organizations and workers to stay current in their respective fields through the Corporate and Professional Development Center. Over the course of nearly 25 years we have partnered with business, industry and professionals to offer customized training solutions and locations; we work closely with MDOT for certifications and Yoplait for plant operation efficiencies, to name a few.

Our mission is to prepare graduates who have met the high academic standards of our programs for current and future industrial and business needs of the state, the nation and the global market. That is why we want to help you Imagine More in your career choices, so plan on visiting us. If there is a specific program you are interested in please request to meet with the program leaders while here, and start making the most of your career path today.
