Joe's educational background is from Ferris State College with an AAS degree in HVAC obtained in 1982 and a BS degree in Energy Systems Technology in 1987. Joe was apart of the second class to graduate in the four year applied HVAC program. His internship was served at the Upjohn Company (now Pfizer). Since then, he has participated in many training courses in sales, personnel management, electrical generation, project management, technical design, load calculations and DDC control systems.

Joe's professional background includes 20 years. His professional experience consists of system design, installation, service manager and after many years, the owner of a HVAC company located in Northern Michigan.

In 1982, he graduated from Ferris State University and went to work in New Orleans, Louisiana as a Service Technician on commercial refrigeration systems. Later, he returned to Michigan, and worked as a Service Technician until 1985 when he enrolled in the four year program at FSU.

In 1987 Joe graduated from Ferris State University and went to work for the Limbach Company, a large international mechanical contractor, in the Detroit area. He designed tenant finish areas, facilities management and then building automation systems. The company transitioned into temperature controls divisions and as a result, he designed, installed and commissioned various systems for high rise office buildings (up to 24 stories), chiller plant metering for billing purposes and numerous sport & entertainment projects.

In 1991 he took a position as Project Engineer & Manager with Nelson Trane in Flint, Michigan where he worked in the temperature controls/contracting division of the company. Joe was responsible for estimation, design, installation (including subcontract management) and the commissioning of numerous electric, DDC and pneumatic control systems for office buildings, universities, ice storage and process plants. He moved to sales of specialty equipment and temperature control systems until he relocated to my hometown, Houghtion Lake, MI.

In 1999 Joe became General Manager of a commercial/residential HVAC office in Houghton Lake, Michigan for four years and was responsible for all system sales, installation, service and customer management. 

In November 2001, he saw to the opening of his current company in northern Michigan . Currently, the company designs, installs, and services light commercial (up to 25 ton) systems and residential systems. The company also specializes in indoor pool room dehumidification design and installation.

Since becoming an Assistant Professor for the HVACR department, Joe has earned a Master's degree in Information Systems Management.
