Profile:
A graduate of the HVACR program at Ferris, Mike Feutz returned to the Department in 1998 as Department Chair. His many responsibilities include course and faculty scheduling, budgeting, student counseling and program development. Mike's career in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration started nearly 25 years ago with an associate s degree in HVACR. Upon graduating, he immediately enrolled in the apprenticeship program for sheet metal workers and spent the next 12 years learning the HVACR industry through the eyes of a journeyman. His path in education and administration began in 1989 when he became the coordinator and instructor of the sheet metal workers apprenticeship program. During that time, he returned to college and earned his bachelor's in HVACR engineering technology from Ferris' program at the Applied Technology Center in Grand Rapids, Mich. In addition to his experiences with the sheet metal workers, Feutz has spent many hours consulting and training for various entities. Most notably, he spent five summers consulting with The Ohio State University, training other apprenticeship instructors to become professional teachers. Since becoming Department Chair, Feutz has earned a master's degree in career technical education at Ferris. A father of four, Mike enjoys all types of skiing and playing hockey or tennis whenever he can.
