SPEAKER: Harvey Hanna,

Mathematics Department, Ferris State University

TITLE: A Discussion of Web-Based Homework Systems

Professor Hanna first began using web-based homework as an integral part of his Math courses in the S08 semester. From then until now he has used such systems with over 250 students in several 100 and 200 level courses here at FSU. In this presentation Prof. Hanna will share his experiences and touch on the following topics:

-       what 'drove' his interest in web-based homework systems,

-       the benefits of web HW ... for both students and instructors,

-       the results of web-HW research studies nationwide,

-       the results of our own FSU informal study ... 13 sections of Math 115 during F08,

-       a comparison of WebAssign (a textbook specific web HW site, open to any publisher) and MyMathLab (the proprietary web HW site of Pearson/Prentice hall).
