Data Retrieval Systems

Data retrieval systems are computer software programs that allow you to search a database in numerous ways. Each library has a different collection of these databases, usually on separate computers. Some of the common data retrieval systems include: Infotrac, which many high school libraries have, Dialog-a very powerful collection of searchable databases that requires a fee, Science Citation Index, Chemical Abstracts and many others.
