Online catalogues

Each college and university has their own online computer system for searching literature in their library. This online catalogue, usually with a name lie the University of Michigan Medical Libraries online catalogue is called Grateful Med, Western Michigan University is called Westcat, Michigan State University is called Magic and Ferris State University is called______________. These online catalogues have replaced the serial holding list, a typed list of all the journals held by that library. Students can simple search for the title of a journal and find out if that journal is in the library, what, if any, volumes are missing, and the location of that journal in the library.

These online catalogues allow a student to search in numerous ways like by keyword, topic, author and even call number
