12th Grade Goals

  1. Research projects will be assigned in senior elected science classes.
  2. Mentorship and Independent Research may be elected.
  3. Independent Research Expectations:
    1. Students will begin research projects in their junior year or before start of their senior year.
    2. Students must be available after school to work at school or at a mentor's laboratory and have means to get to that laboratory.
    3. Students will attend a monthly meeting of all research students and the research facilitator.
    4. Students must maintain and official research log of all activities, experiments and data collected.
    5. All independent research students must participate in local, regional, and national science fair competitions with a poster presentation.
    6. All independent research studies must be presented at a local, state or national symposium.

It should not be a surprise to learn that the ACTTM (American College Testing) tests student knowledge in science by testing science reasoning The Science Reasoning Test emphasizes that the following skills be worked on at the high school level to prepare students for this proportion of the test.
