11th Grade Goals
- Review of 9th and 10th research expectations.
- Research concepts covered:
- Use of animals in research
- Use of human subjects in conducting research/clinical investigations
- Ethics in science research
- Statistics continued;
- Experimental design
- Internal vs. external validity
- Experiments vs. survey research
- More inferential statistics
- Design of statistical data tables
- Research project:
- Each student will complete a one-semester physics/elective laboratory investigation.
- Each investigation will be written up according to specific guidelines and turned in for evaluation.
- Each student will be expected to present a short description of his or her
research investigation to their class.
- Each student will present a poster presentation of their project and field questions from guests.
- Complete student outcome expectations and an abstract of their
investigation will be recorded in their portfolio.
- Evaluation/Credit/ Comprehensive Exam. Students will be evaluated on the
design and presentation of their research projects at each grade level plus a test of content presented. For credit a comprehensive test will be given at the end of the 11th grade and pass/fail credit will be assigned.
