Successful completion of the program leads to an Associate in Applied Science degree and grants you eligibility to take the licensing examinations necessary to practice dental hygiene.  The dental hygiene program is a three-year program, with the first year considered the prerequisite (pre-professional) year, with the second and third years being devoted to the dental hygiene professional courses.

 

The dental hygiene program’s curriculum and eligibility requirements will be provided for you in another document. 

 

You may take the prerequisite (pre-professional) courses at Ferris or take the equivalent courses elsewhere.   As a pre-professional student, you will have access to an academic advisor in the dental hygiene program who can guide you in course selection as you work toward admission into the professional sequence of the program.
