Greetings to Prospective Health Information Management Students: Welcome to our website and thank you for your interest in the FSU Health Information programs. If you want the business side of health care, one of the health information programs may be a good choice for you. Employment is expected to grow faster than average for health information professionals. Job prospects should be very good; graduates will be ready to assume key roles in supporting the electronic health record applications. Health information managers/administrators supervise the processes of data collection and analysis which are critical for providing high quality patient care. Experienced administrators will be employed in supervision and management, overseeing the work of the coding, correspondence, release of information, statistics, and quality sections. All positions within this field require proficiency with computers, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Students will use the American Health Information Management Association Virtual Lab to gain experience in using electronic health records.
