received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the School
of Dentistry at the University of Detroit Mercy this past May.
Additionally, she received UDM’s Clinical Pediatric Dentistry
Award. She is one of only four dentists accepted into a two-year
pediatric dental residency program at the Children’s Hospital
of Michigan in Detroit. |

of research and assessment validation for HVAC Excellence. Hohman
is also state director of the Michigan Society for Healthcare
Engineers, the national director of Mechanic Evaluation and
Certification for Healthcare and past director of the National

Howard J. Hulsman (EHS’62), Petoskey, Mich., has been appointed to the Citizens Republic Bancorp board of directors. Hulsman previously served on the Republic Bancorp Inc. board of directors and is chairman emeritus of the Republic Bank board, which he chaired for 18 years. He retired from the Republic Bancorp Inc. board in 2004.
Robert Norsworthy (B’63), Greenwich, Conn., is an executive vice president of Omnicom Corporation in New York City. Additionally, he has appeared in 12 made-for-television movies including Streets of Laredo, Dead Man’s Walk, Loves Long Journey, Gentle Ben II and Prairie Fever. He and his wife of 40 years, Connie Clark, have a daughter, Lee-Clark, and are expecting their first grandchild in November.
Ivan Boynton (B’64), and his wife, Jan, Coldwater, Mich., are selling their travel agency to live in retirement.
Susan (McCarthy) Stoll (B’64), Grand Rapids, Mich., has retired after 24 years as administrative assistant to the superintendent of instruction for Kenowa Hills Public Schools. She is ready to enjoy her twin children, Stephen and Stacy, and their families, including four grandchildren.
Ted Havens (AH’67), Battle Creek, Mich., retired from the Calhoun County Environmental Health Department after 40 years of service. He has been director of the department since 1975.

Kurt Inman (B’81), Sturgis, Mich., was promoted to vice president, director of marketing, at Sturgis Bank & Trust.
Brian Barry (AS’82), Moorpark, Calif., was recently named director of development for Infinite Platinum Group for southern California. Barry also was elected president of the National Board of Directors for the National Human Resources Association in July. He and his wife, Teresa, have three sons, Brendan, Casey and Spencer.
Jeff Peterson (AS’82), Muskegon, Mich., was recently promoted to manager of marketing services for the SAF-Holland company of Holland, Mich.
Karen Easterling (B’83), Saginaw, Mich., was elected to the Cass City Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Janet (Morlik) Phelps (AH’83), Grand Blanc, Mich., was recently elected Michigan Environmental Health Association president. This is her second time as MEHA president, having first served in the post in 1997.
Dan Carter (B’84), Carthage, Tenn., and his wife, Kathy, celebrated their third year of owning and operating Carter Chevrolet in Carthage.
Russ Fatum (B’86), Providence, R.I., recently earned his Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. Fatum is director of labor & employee relations for Textron Inc. headquartered in Providence.
Robert J. Straebel (B’87), Charlevoix, Mich., was named Charlevoix city manger in September.

Jan (Vader) DeLisle (AS’90), Saginaw, Mich., recently returned to Michigan to accept a position as secretary to the chief of staff at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Saginaw. She worked more than 11 years as a U.S. probation clerk specialist in Dayton, Ohio.
Mark Paquin (EHS’90), Highland, Mich., was promoted to lieutenant with the Bloomfield Township Police.
Deborah Kenn (T’91, ’98), Leesburg, Va., works at Skills USA National Headquarters as associate director of training in the department of membership, programs and training. In 2005 Kenn earned her National Board Certified Teaching in Career and Technical Education designation.
Eddie L. Kindle (E’92), Port Huron, Mich., recently became assistant principal at Port Huron High School. Kindle has taught physical education, health and business at PHHS for the past 13 years, served as head football coach for nine years and head girls track coach for the past two years. He lives with his wife, Brandie, daughters Jessica and Nina, and son, Noah.
Robert Hempel (T’93), Hartland, Mich., was promoted to director of Chrysler Sales from senior manager of General Motors Sales. In his new role, Hempel will direct operational and personnel activities for the Chrysler Sales group.

Stephanie Dobbins (B’99), Albion, Mich., recently opened Fork It Over!, a full-service e-Bay drop-off store that helps customers appraise and sell items on the Internet.

Eric Andrew Bobak (AS’05), Ypsilanti, Mich., left on June 9 to spend two years of Peace Corps service in Ghana. Bobak, whose degree is in Applied Mathematics, will teach math to secondary school students, help raise awareness of the benefits of education and also increase HIV/AIDS awareness.
