Clear to the Horizon

My Italy Roommates

May 4-9
. Can't believe I'm in Italy! Air France flight to Paris; changed planes and arrived in Rome; visited Santa Maria Maggiore, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps.
. Forgot alarm clock; set cell phone for 5 a.m. Train to Termini Station; visited Coliseum, Arch of Constantine, Arch of Titus, Roman Forum,
. St. Peter's Square and Pantheon. Still can't believe I'm in Italy!
. Took train to Naples and on to Pompeii where a Gypsy band performed at the station.
. Climbed St. Peter's dome for awesome view. Visited Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.
(Have I mentioned I can't believe I'm in Italy?)

May 9-11
. Eurostar train to Florence. Visited Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Florentine Baptistery, Ghiberti's Doors, Museum of Dome, Uffizi Gallery, Pallazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, Orsanmichelle,
The Coliseum
Accademia Gallery and Michelangelo's David, and the Medici Chapels.
. Free time for shopping at the Leather Markets.

May 12-13
. Train to Venice. Walked to St. Mark's Square to watch tourists feed pigeons.
. Took boat taxi to Vecchia Murano Glass Factory for tour.
. Visited Peggy Guggenheim Museum and Church of the Friars, walked the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge. More shopping.

May 14-15
. Arrived in Milan; visited Cathedral of Milan and walked the roof. Packed for flight home and left for airport at 3:00 a.m.

Christa Walker is working on her bachelor's degree in Graphic Design while raising three sons - college students Nathan and Jared, and high school senior Alexander. She recently returned from her study abroad trip to Italy with Humanities professor James (Ted) Walker.
