From the Alumni Director |
I love this time of the year: the fall colors; the hustle and bustle of running up the balance on your Visa/MasterCard/Amex/Discover in the true spirit of giving; and recovering from the turkey-induced coma that relieves yet another Lions disappointment. (I'm writing this in advance of the game, so we can see how much of a sports forecaster I am.)
But most importantly, this time of the year is special to me because my wedding anniversary is Dec. 1. It's been five wonderful years and counting. Naturally, as alumni director, I planned the ideal Ferris wedding. Our rehearsal dinner was in the Wheeler Pavilion President's Suite at Top Taggart Field. The ceremony was held at St. Paul's Catholic Campus Parish and the reception at the Rankin Center Dome Room. As you can see from our photo, we had bulldogs, sure; but not the way Lisa Perry (EHS'02) and Kevin Kreitner (EHS'00) did. As you can see, they had the real, official bulldog mascot on hand to give their wedding the full Ferris treatment.
Maybe the Dawg's next stop is
your special get-together. We can help make it happen. That's one
of our primary goals - keeping you in touch and active with Ferris.
Whether it's providing you e-mail service, a reunion, an announcement,
or having the Dawg at your upcoming shin-dig, we want to help.
Many of you will receive an invitation
in the weeks ahead, if you haven't already, to participate in the
Presidential Alumni Caucus Receptions - town-hall discussions with
President Eisler. As alumni, your perspectives, ideas and dreams for
Ferris are critical components in our quest to "Imagine More" for
our alma mater's future. Some of these meetings have already begun
and you can view those notes and add your thoughts online at www.ferris.edu
by following the links under "Campus Update."
Finally, in the genuinely true
spirit of giving, I am delighted to report that your active and generous
support allowed your Alumni Association to have the means to provide
23 current students each with a $1,000 Legacy Scholarship. In addition
to your support of the Alumni Association, many more of you support
scholarships and other initiatives spearheaded by our colleges and
departments on campus. Thank you - and have a great holiday season
and New Year!
Sincerely,
Jeremy Mishler, E '96
P.S. Please help us make Crimson & Gold a publication that most suits
your interests. We're going to have an on-line survey you can take
by visiting www.ferrisalumni.org.
We'll have some prize drawings for those who take part. We'd love
to hear from you!
