| ‘Tis
the season to be jolly and thankful. And because of the involvement
and support of you and our fellow alumni and friends, we at Ferris
have a great deal to be thankful for:
-
Fellowship – Whether it was Homecoming, our outing with
the Detroit Lions, a pre-game tailgater or black-tie gala, we
are grateful to have had the opportunity to connect with so many
of you who took the time to visit campus or supported Ferris and
Alumni Association events and activities that took place in your
communities.
-
Service – Hundreds of our Alumni gave freely of themselves
during this past year to expand our Alumni Association. You served
on advisory boards, talked and worked with our students to improve
their marketability and leadership potential. By sharing your
knowledge and resources you helped strengthen the Ferris model
for career-oriented education.
- Benevolence
– It only takes a brief glance through the pages in back
of this magazine to appreciate the power and breadth of your financial
support. The generosity of Bulldog Alumni and Friends has assisted
many of our students in their pursuit of a quality education.
The new facilities and educational programs you’ve helped
make possible
are instrumental in producing the professionals of tomorrow. Most
importantly, your generosity and involvement sustains Ferris State’s
ideals and forward-looking educational environment. Thank you!
But
with a new year fast approaching comes the need to establish resolutions
for even greater improvement. Our resolution is to work harder to
reach and find new ways to initiate, improve and expand your role
with Ferris.
Now, you know how these resolution things go. Help make it easy
on us! Please?
- Log
on and register on the alumni online community website, www.ferrisalumni.org,
or
- RSVP
for an upcoming event (see calendar on page 15), or
- Let
us know if you would enjoy the opportunity to speak to our students,
or
- If
you work for a large employer with other alumni, let’s work
together to start an alumni organization, similar to our Ford-Ferris
Alumni Association, or
- Make
a gift to the Alumni Opportunity Fund and support alumni events,
activities and Legacy Scholarships that are available to current
Ferris students whose family (parents, grandparents, siblings)
also attended Ferris.
As
Mr. and Mrs. Woodbridge N. Ferris wrote in their 1914 holiday greetings
letter, “What every age needs most is not the art of accumulating
gold, houses, lands, stocks and bonds, but the art of cultivating
patience, courage, trust, loyalty, faith and love—the treasures
of the soul, the symbols of eternal youth.”
Getting involved at any level, or increasing your
level of current involvement, will make a positive impact on your
alma mater and the students studying here today. I hope we hear
from you very soon.
May the most enduring gifts of the season be yours.
Sincerely,

Jeremy Mishler, E ‘96
