Between the Lines Expands Bulldog Athletics Coverage
Between
the Lines, a television program featuring Ferris State athletics, is getting
a wider audience now that it’s on northern Michigan’s Fox
33 where it airs Saturdays at 4:30 p.m.
“The
show originated two years ago on the University’s cable Channel
7,” said Ira Childress, a senior in Applied Speech and Communications
who is the show’s host and executive producer. “It’s
been a real team effort getting Bulldog athletics a wider audience. Sandy
Alspach, who’s the coordinator of the Applied Speech program, was
instrumental in helping me work on delivery and things of that nature
to get ready.” Childress also credits Steve Cox of Media Production,
who directs the show, and Mary Jo Winter, Between the Lines’ stage
manager.
Two
of the early guests on the broadcast version of Between the Lines were
volleyball Coach Tia Brandel and football Coach Jeff Pierce. Childress
had some special insight into his interview with Pierce, having played
for the Bulldogs under Pierce’s leadership.
