Men’s Tennis Gets New Head Coach
Kevin
Brandalik has been tapped as the Bulldogs new head coach succeeding Paul
Marcum at the helm.
Brandalik
comes to Ferris from Valrico, Fla., where he was director of tennis for
the KB Tennis Academy. Brandalik was the United States Professional Tennis
Association 1998 North Carolina Pro of the Year and USPTA 1993 Virginia
Pro of the Year. In Valrico, Baldalik was charged with developing, managing
and directing a high-level junior tennis academy in one of the most competitive
markets in the country.
“We’re
excited to have Kevin join our athletics family,” said Athletics
Director Tom Kirinovic. “He has an experienced and varied background
in the tennis industry and is a capable replacement to fill the shoes
of Paul Marcum.
“I’m
ecstatic about this position,” Brandalik said. “The challenge
of continuing Ferris’ great tennis tradition and being able to influence
student-athletes in a positive way is extremely appealing.”
Marcum
registered a 74-31 (.705) career coaching record during his four seasons
as head coach. Marcum was the 2000 GLIAC Coach of the Year, and led the
Bulldogs to three consecutive (2000-02) NCAA Division II National Tournament
appearances and the 1999 league title and guided the team to the 2001
NCAA Division II World Team Tennis Championship at the inaugural Wingspanbank.com
National Small College Tennis Championships.
