Appointed Assistant Athletics Director
The
Ferris State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has hired Brian Kegler
as Assistant Athletics Director.
The
27-year old-Kegler comes to Ferris from the University of Notre Dame,
where he served as sports marketing and promotions assistant.
“I’m
extremely excited to have Brian join our staff,” said Athletics
Director Tom Kirinovic. “His addition provides us with someone on
a full-time basis to help generate revenue, which will be his primary
focus.” His duties will include directing the sale of advertising
and corporate sponsorships, establishing fundraising plans for athletic
booster clubs, assisting with capital campaigns for athletic facilities
and organizing ticket sales drives for hockey, football and basketball.
Prior
to his appointment at Notre Dame, Kegler served as head baseball coach
for the Rome, N.Y., Indians from 1999 to 2000, where he oversaw managerial
and recruitment decisions and assisted with team marketing and promotional
strategies while leading the team to its first championship game appearance
in nearly 30 years.
A native
of Independence, Iowa, Kegler graduated in 1998 from Northern Iowa with
a bachelor of arts degree in organizational communication and went on
to earn a master’s degree in sports management from Iowa State in
2000.
