Exceptional Emeriti

Boyd C. Halstead, retired professor of Opticianry, was recently inducted into the National Academy of Opticianry Hall of Fame at their annual convention in Atlantic City, N.J.

Halstead taught at Ferris State from 1961 to 1964 and from 1974 to 1991 for a total of 20 years' service to the University. During his tenure, he was named a finalist for the FSU Distinguished Teachers Award.

He currently is working as a part-time optician in Grand Rapids and consulting on state board exams, continuing a distiguished career of 54 years in the optical field.
