From the Alumni Director From the Alumni Director
From the Alumni Director

Spring and summer – at least here in Michigan – are the best seasons to get outside and play. In the words of University founder, Woodbridge Ferris, “When people hear the still small voice of the great out-of-doors, human words are not needed.” As you can see from this issue of Crimson & Gold, many Ferris alumni are making outdoor activities their life’s work: keeping NASCAR rolling; hosting a roster of golfing greats for the U.S. Senior Open; and taking miniature golf – that staple of Americana – where no putter has gone before.
Then there’s James Travis III who has spent months at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, which just proves that there are some nature activities – such as those that take place well below zero Fahrenheit – that are better enjoyed vicariously.
For my family, spring and summer mean visits to Katke Golf Course, School Section Lake, and the Riverwalk at Hemlock Park. As you make your big plans to get out of town, check out our calendar of Ferris events and consider gathering with your fellow Bulldogs for some quality social time. Whether you join us to tee it up in at Eagle Eye Golf Course in East Lansing in May, or come to one of our 125th anniversary events starting next Fall, you will find a welcoming crowd of alumni who enjoy outdoor activities – and even some that take place inside, too. Log on to www.ferrisalumni.org and register for the Bulldog Bytes e-newsletter to keep informed of all our activities.
Spring is also a special time on campus as another class of graduating students crosses our commencement stage and takes their rightful place in our society of Ferris alumni. To those about to graduate and become alumni, and to all of you who have friends and family in the class of ‘09, the Ferris Alumni Association salutes your achievements and welcomes you into the society of those who have been enriched by a Ferris education. And to all alumni new and “seasoned” alike, remember: you are and always will be a Bulldog.
Good luck and keep in touch – we look forward to hearing from you, visiting with you and celebrating your successes.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Mishler, E '96
