Gene Cooper (EHS’70), Warren, Mich., is an adjunct professor of engineering technology at Macomb Community College, pastor of Harvest Time Christian Church and an international conference speaker.
Keith Merchant (B’70), Cadillac, Mich., was appointed to the Firstbank board of directors. Merchant is owner and president of B&P manufacturing in Cadillac.
Douglas Weldy (T’70), Buchanan, Mich., was honored as the Freightliner/ASE Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician of the Year at ASE’s annual board of directors’ Industry Awards Dinner banquet held in Scottsdale, Ariz., last November.
Charles Keller (B’75), Scottville, Mich., was promoted to executive vice president/chief lending officer at West Shore Bank in Ludington.
Michael J. Bullerdick (B’76), Sarasota, Fla., has been appointed by Florida Governor Charlie Crist, to a three-year term on the newly created Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority. Bullerdick is president of First Community Bank of America.
Aldon Olson (B’77), Hudsonville, Mich., has been accepted into the General Society of Mayflower Descendants.
Connie Nash (B’78), Gaines, Mich., has been hired as principal of Holy Trinity Elementary School in Bay City.
Dale Hardy (EHS’79), Boyne City, Mich., was inducted into the Boyne City High School Hall of Fame.
Thomas Landaal (B’79), Flint, Mich., was honored by the Flint Jewish Federation at the 18th Riegle awards banquet. The Riegle awards are named for former Senator Donald Riegle who was a champion for freedom of immigration for Jews from the former Soviet Union. Landall, who has assisted many nonprofit organizations, is president of Landaal Packaging Systems in Burton.

Craig Hartzell (EHS’80), Three Rivers, Mich., was named Glen Oaks Community College’s 2007 Distinguished Alumni of the Year. Hartzel is a co-founder of Azimuth, Inc., which specializes in electronic and software engineering, logistical support and hi-tech services.
Tim Wenzel (P’80), Frankenmuth, Mich., was promoted to vice president of clinical services at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw.
Joe Bush (T’81), Lawrenceville, Ga., joined Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division as CITY MULTI® application specialist.
Carla Koch, (AS’83), West Branch, Mich., was appointed supervisor of special services for Midland Public Schools.
Joseph Pistrui (B´83), Madrid, Spain, was recently appointed the associate dean for executive education at IE Business School in Madrid. Pistrui returns to IE Business School after a two-year assignment with Duke Corporate Education, based in London. Additionally, Pistrui will resume his faculty appointment in the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies at IE Business School, and serve as a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Terrence Rollins (T’83, 93), Norristown, Penn., was recognized by the Association of Energy Engineers as a “Legend in Energy” 2007.
Navy Reserve Cmdr. Daniel R. Pionk (B’84), Ruth, Mich., was recently awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal while serving as deputy deployment distributions operations center chief, Operations Directorate, United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
Russ Fatum (B’86), Fort Worth, Texas, has accepted a promotion as director, senior human resources business partner for Textron’s Bell Helicopter division. Fatum was most recently the director of labor and employee relations at Textron’s corporate office in Providence, R.I. He is married to Gail (Loehr) Fatum (B’87).
Chuck Morgan (B’87), Waterford, Mich., was hired as assistant principal at Walled Lake Northern High School last fall. He had previously taught and coached at WLNHS.
Curt McAllister (B’89), Lake Orion, Mich., has joined Toyota Motor Sales, Inc. U.S.A. to serve as product news manager for the Midwestern portion of the United States. McAllister will work out of Toyota’s Detroit office. He also serves on Ferris’ Alumni Association Board of Directors.
Robert Straebel (B’89), Charlevoix, Mich., was hired to become city manager of Charlevoix in July 2007.

Lori Brya (EHS’90), St. Johns, Mich., was hired by the Michigan Farm Bureau as manager for their newly created Health Services Department.
Marcy Nienhus (B’91), Hamilton, Mich., wed Alan Hafeman of Racine, Wis., where the couple resides.
Mike Weessies (AH’91), Muskegon, Mich., was appointed to the Reeths-Puffer school board last November. He is director of workplace health at Hackley Hospital.
Jeff Doran (T’93), Waterford, Mich., joined the architecture and engineering firm of TowerPinkster as a mechanical designer.
Todd Vagi (T’93), Spring, Texas, has been promoted to regional manager in Ford’s Houston Region.
LCDR Timothy Ekola, (P’94), Portage, Mich., was deployed to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, with U.S. Navy, Fleet Hospital Great Lakes (Oct. ’06 to Nov. ’07). He was also selected as Senior Pharmacist of the Year 2007, United States Navy Reserve.

Mimi Miles (AS’95), Rochester Hills, Mich., has been named vice president of marketing at Autoweb, a leading global provider of software-based data management and system interoperability solutions for the automotive, aerospace and manufacturing industries. Prior to joining Autoweb, Miles led marketing communications and lead-generation programs for the Americas business unit of Paris-based Dassault Systémes.

Rachel Valarie Dobbs Linnen (AS’05), Jacksonville, Fla., won the 2007 Orseck Moot Court Competition for Florida Coastal School of Law after arguing in front of the Florida Supreme Court. She was also voted Best Advocate by the Florida Supreme Court.
