Ted Polensky (E’90), Battleboro, N.C., has been appointed Director of loss prevention for the restaurant company Boddie-Noell Enterprises, Inc., Hardee’s Food System’s largest franchise in the United States, operating 313 Hardee’s restaurants in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Kentucky. The company also operates 33 Texas Steakhouse & Saloon restaurants, four BBQ & Ribs Co. restaurants, six Café Carolina and Bakery cafes, and several Moe’s Southwest Grill franchise restaurants, as well as an old-fashioned Highway Diner and the historic Rose Hill conference center near Nashville, N.C.

Irving Lundell (P’51), Muskegon, Mich., retired after 32 years with Parke Davis sales, and 23 years in community pharmacy, including 19 years with Watkins Pharmacy of Muskegon. Lundell has served as tour host for five European travel adventures and looks forward to continuing his service to the disabled and elderly in church/community volunteer programs.

Tim Bazzett (AS’67), Reed City, Mich., recently published Pinhead A Love Story, the third volume in a trilogy of memoir, that also includes Reed City Boy and Soldier Boy. William N. Kelly (P’68), Oldsmar, Fla., is the author of Prescribed Medications and the Public Health: Laying the Foundation for Risk Reduction, published by Haworth Press. The second edition of his book Pharmacy: What it is and How it Works, was released by CRC Press in December.

Jerry Maitland, (T’70), Lapeer, Mich., was inducted into the Montrose Sports and Community Hall of Fame.
Robert Armstrong (B’72), Sandusky, Mich., served as the 2007 honorary chairman for the United Way of Sanilac County’s funding campaign. Armstrong is general manager of radio stations WMIC-AM and WTGV and WBGV-FM.
Rich Schurkamp, (AH’73), Grand Haven Twp., Mich., retired as Ottawa County human resources director after 33 years of service to the county.
Nancy Spykman (B’73), Hudsonville, Mich., was elected vice-president of the Michigan Association of Professional Court Reporters at their 102nd annual convention held last October in Gaylord. Spykman has also served MAPCR as director and secretary-treasurer.
Harvey Schmidt (P’74), Tecumseh, Mich., has been appointed to the Michigan Board of Pharmacy by Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
James Pahl (EHS’75), Mason, Mich., was elected commander-in-chief of the national organization Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War at their National Encampment in Harrisburg, Penn., last August.
Bob Wright (B’75), Niles, Mich., has retired as director of business and finance at Niles Community Schools.
Peter DePrekel, (EHS’76), Lansing, Mich., retired from Meridian Township Police Department where he was in charge of the court services unit. He will now be employed by the State of Michigan House of Representatives as sergeant at arms.
Christine (Korejsza) Emmons (P’76), Key Largo, Fla., was nominated for the 2006 CVS Paragon Award for her district. Last September marked Emmons’ 15th year with CVS and at the Key Largo location where she is the pharmacist in charge.
Steve Grinczel (AS’76), Haslett, Mich., has published his second book, co-written with former Michigan State basketball great Greg Kelser. Gregory Kelser’s Tales from Michigan State Basketball chronicles Kelser’s development as an MSU and NBA player and broadcaster.
Ed O’Bara (EHS’76), Highland Village, Texas, has been chief of police for the city of Highland Village for the past six years after retiring from the Dallas Police Department. Last year, the HVPD received the International Chiefs of Police Award for innovations in community policing, as well as the Texas Municpal League’s award for excellence and innovation in community policing.
Alan Spencer, (EHS’77), Charlotte, Mich., was promoted to lieutenant, uniform division commander, by Meridian Township Police Department.
Jeffrey Gillesse (B’78), Ada, Mich., has been appointed chief financial officer for Clarion Technologies.

Doug Terry (AS’81), Concord, Mich., was named city manager of Litchfield last November.
Barbara Gurnee (AH’82), Bay City, Mich., has been admitted to Fellowship in the American Dental Assistants Association.
Duane Crechiolo (P’84), Brownstown, Mich., works as a staff pharmacist at Mercy Hospital in Monroe. His daughter, Michelle, skates for the MSU women’s ice hockey team.
Anthony Lombardo (T’86), Washington, Mich., was named last year as co-chair for the Transportation Committee of Focus Macomb in Macomb County.
Adam Schriber (B’86), Traverse City, Mich., last year became general manager of High Pointe Golf Club in Williamsburg.
Kelly Goodsel (B’87, T’87), Corry, Penn., is president and CEO of Viking Plastics, a VPI Acquisition Corp. Goodsel held both positions at Viking Plastics before it was acquired by VPI Acquisition Corp. Goodsel, a principal in VPI Acquisition Corp., brings his extensive background in the plastics industry to the newly formed company.

Cheryl Herzog (B’89), Troy, Mich., recently joined the Global Testing Organization of Electronic Data Systems, and is currently assigned to the OnStar account. She has been with EDS since graduating from Ferris with a degree in Business majoring in Computer Information Systems.

Eric McCourt (T’91, EHS’93), Holland, Mich., won the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association award for 2006 Educator of the Year. McCourt, who teaches at West Ottawa High School, is only the second high school teacher to win the award, which usually goes to universities or large corporations.

Richard Gillespie (EHS’95) recently transferred from Detroit, Mich., where he served as team leader for an anti-terrorism team with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to a Diplomatic position with Customs and Border Protection stationed in Aruba, Netherland Antilles. He and his wife, Amy, celebrated the birth of their third baby daughter, Kristine, last September.
