Al Glasby (P’57) and Sandy (Vaisanen) Glasby, Gaylord, Mich., have for more than 30 years produced, directed and acted in community theatre. Sandy and Al donated their time and talents for non-profit organizations to raise funds by performing in Love Letters, a two-act play by A.R. Gurney.

Julie Reynolds-Clarke (AS’93), Rahway, N.J., was recently profiled in Back Stage magazine, which featured her under her industry name Mahogany Reynolds. Back Stage noted her appearance in the independent short film “Pit Stop,” in which she plays a schizophrenic homeless woman. Roger David Carpenter (O’61), Holland, Mich., has semi-retired after 46 years in the optical business, the past 23 of which he sold for Marchon Eyewear. Carpenter is married to his wife of 45 years, Carol. They have three daughters, six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter born in January.
Ward Veldman (K’64), Harbor Springs, Mich., was the 2007 recipient of the Ad Club of West Michigan’s Silver Medal. He also received the lifetime achievement award in a ceremony prior to the ADDY Awards at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids last February.

Ron Muszynski (T’70), Manistee, Mich., was a member of the 2007 Manistee Catholic Central Hall of Fame class of inductees.
Tim Elenbaas, (AS’71), Cadillac, Mich., was elected to the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame.
Kathryn Ring (O’72), Jackson, Mich., co-owner of Eye Services of Jackson, was named Small Business Person of the Year by the Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce.
Bob Henshaw (T’73), Oceola Township, Mich., was appointed to the Oceola Township Board of Trustees.
Dale R. Berglund (AS’74), Bay City, Mich., is director of employee services for the City of Saginaw.
Robert Doster (T’76), Carmel, Ind., has joined the civil/structural engineering group at BSA LifeStructures’ Indianapolis office. BSA LifeStructures, which also has an office in Chicago, is a national leader in designing healthcare, higher education, research and technology facilities.
Dennis E. Leyder (B’76), Rapid City, Mich., was promoted to president and COO of The State Bank.
Thad Taylor (EHS’77), Alpena, Mich., was named Alpena’s interim city manager. He also is public safety director for the city.
Scott Rosema (K’79), Muskegon, Mich., judged a comic book/fantasy art competition for the Holland Friends of Art last March. Rosema, a professional illustrator, also gave a public lecture about the process behind the creation of his own unique art.
1980s
Brent Wheeler (T’80, B’82), Davison, Mich., recently joined the administration leadership team at McLaren Health System as director of oncology, GLCI-McLaren.
Laura D. Sheppard (AHS’81), Shelbyville, Mich., is technical manager and director of training at DSG Davis Dental Laboratory in Grand Rapids. Sheppard is certified in orthodontics, crown and bridge and complete dentures. In April she made several presentations at the Mid-West Spring Technical Meeting.
Brian Barry (AS’82), Los Angeles, Calif., accepted the role of president of the National Board of Directors of the National Human Resources Association. His yearlong term began in July. He is the Los Angeles executive for Drake Beam Morin, a leading global outplacement, coaching and career management firm.
Doug Terry (AS’82), Litchfield, Mich., recently became Litchfield’s city manager.
Col. Douglas Apsey (O’84), Lackland, Texas, retired from the U.S. Air Force in February. He retired from his position as commander of the 59th Clinical Research Squadron, Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland AFB.
Mark Hekkema (B’84), Muskegon, Mich., wed Stephanie Bennett of Twin Lake.
Paul Morrow (EHS’85), Flint, Mich., retired from the Burton Police Department after nearly 21 years of service.
Allan Jean (B’86), Dublin, Ohio, started a new position with investment bankers Keefe, Bruyette, and Woods in April after 20 years with Crowe, Chizek, and Co. He is married to Melody (Murphy) Jean (B’86).
Kelly Richards (AH’86, EHS’88), Flint, Mich., is pastor of Grace Cathedral Community Church.
Dan Yates (K’89), Trinity, N.C., was chosen by Art Van Furniture to create the first grouping of the company’s H.O.M.E.S. furniture collection. The theme of the collection is Michigan lifestyle. The name “H.O.M.E.S.” is derived from the first letter of the five Great Lakes.

Jack Wright Jr. (P’90), Omaha, Neb., was promoted to lieutenant colonel during a ceremony at Offutt Air Force Base. He is commander of Diagnostics and Therapeutics Flight, 55th Wing, Air Combat Command.
Tom Mochty (T’91), Brookville, Ohio, was named director of surveying operations at Woolpert Inc., in Dayton.
David Moscardelli (B’91), Mt. Pleasant, Mich., has joined Isabella Bank & Trust as a financial advisor for Raymond James Financial Services Inc.
Julie Neumann (B’92), Munger, Mich., joined Paxon Oil Co. as vice president of finance.
Tracy (Lester) Miller (EHS’93), Phoenix, Ariz., was promoted to lieutenant in the Phoenix Police Department.
Julie Beal (B’93), Colon, Mich., was named executive director for child abuse and prevention awareness in Hillsdale County.
Renea (Doughten) Brunke (B’93), Chandler, Ariz., was recently promoted to vice president of human resources for Catholic Healthcare of West Valley, which includes Chandler Regional Hospital and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Chandler.
Dave Morin (B’93), League City, Texas, is business director of Velocity Sports Performance in Friendswood, Texas. In early 2007 Morin accepted the additional role of director of athletic recruiting to his title. Morin lives in League City with his wife and two children.
Samuel Stitt IV (T’95), Hesperia, Mich., was promoted to the rank of major in the Michigan Army National Guard this past January. Last December, Stitt was awarded the Bronze Star, Bronze DeFleury Medal and Combat Action Badge for service as commander of the 1436th Engineer Company during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Lon Yowell (EHS’95), Escanaba, Mich., was named Elk of the Year by Escanaba Elks Lodge 354.
Adam Craaybeek (EHS’96), Three Rivers, Mich., assumed the position of executive director of Twin County Probation Center.
Wendy Rouech (E’97), Saginaw, Mich., wed Matthew Holtz of Geneseo, Ill. The couple resides in Bristol, Conn.
Andrea Schroeder (B’97), Davison, Mich., began her duties as Davison City Hall clerk in January.

Steve Rota (EHS’98), St. Clair Shores, Mich., won an Emmy award for directing the “Da Vinci Code” segment of the Bloomfield Community Television-produced “Interfaith Odyssey” show.

Anne Guenther (AS’99), Leesburg, Fla., received a Special Judges Award from the Walt Disney Corporation. The awards recognize Florida teachers who demonstrate exemplary teaching techniques.
