Fund to Promote International Study Established in Chapman’s
Honor
Ferris State students interested in studying in
a foreign country can tap a new source of funding thanks to the
Barbara Chapman International Study Scholarship Endowment Fund.
As vice president of Academic Affairs from 1998
through 2002, Chapman oversaw the Study Abroad program and other
cross-cultural study opportunities for students and faculty.
Announced following her retirement in December
2002, the new endowment provides scholarship funding for current
Ferris students who have completed at least two semesters of study
at Ferris, meet minimum academic and scholarship requirements, and
submit a one- to two-page essay on how the experience is expected
to impact them personally and academically.
“This kind of creative, designated giving
allows people to target their support to areas of the University
they feel strongly about or programs that may be under-utilized
due to funding constraints,” said Debra Jacks, director of
Annual Giving and Development Services.
Anyone interested in contributing to the Chapman
fund or any other University endowment should contact Jacks at (231)
591-3817 or jacksd@ferris.edu.
