Class Notes The 1960s Domenick J. Esposito (B69), Roslyn Heights, N.Y., has been selected CEO of Grant Thornton LLP, a 75-year-old, Chicago-based accounting and management consulting firm with 3,000 employees. The 1970s Bert van Aalsburg (AS71), San Francisco, Calif., is one step closer to New York and Broadway, having joined the actors union, Actors Equity Association. Aalsburg was invited to join the association because of his work as stage manager for The Trial, a Lorraine Hansberry Theatre production in San Francisco. Don Buggia (E71), Dewitt, Fowlerville High School assistant principal, will take over for the outgoing principal beginning with the 1999-2000 school year. Stephen M. Pete Petersen (T75), Ashland, N.C., is now the director of the Professional Tennis Management program at Methodist College in Fayetteville, N.C. Phillip J. Betz (E76), Grand Rapids, was selected from 11 nominees as the Grand Rapids Police Departments 1998 Officer of the Year. Garry N. Brandt (B76), St. Cloud, Fla., is a financial analyst for the Kissimmee Utility Authority. Steve Czerkes (P76), Boyne City, and his wife, Cathy, have opened Medicap Pharmacy in Boyne City. Richard J. Darling (E76), St. Johns, has been promoted to inspector in the Human Resources Division of the Michigan State Police post in Owosso. Prior to his promotion, Inspector Darling served as post commander. Lori Sue McQueen Johns (B76), Farmington Hills, has been elected president of the Michigan Association of Professional Court Reporters. Johns works as a freelance court reporter with Hanson/Renaissance Court Reporters in Detroit. Steven M. Roznowski (AS76), Grafton, Va., was promoted to vice president of human resources at Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. in Newport News, Va. Douglas A. Rudd (B76), Carson City, Regional Sales Manager for Kubota Tractor Corporation, was recognized by the company as Top Regional Sales Manager, Highest Dollar Settlement for 1998. Gregory S. Bovee (P77), Dewitt, owner of West Side Pharmacy in Delta Township, has received the 1999 Pharmacist of the Year Award from the Michigan Pharmacists Association. Russell L. Aubil (E78), Wayland, was recently made Assistant Director of Human Resources at Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. John Edward Smith (T78), Plymouth, is now working for GARMIN International as an Aviation Support Specialist. He spent nearly 12 years as a Field Service Engineer with JCAIR, Inc. after leaving KING Radio Corporation in 1985. Stephen Murray Johnson (T79), Gaylord, has been promoted
to group manager of private development and survey in Wade-Trims
Gaylord office. The 1980s Carl John Micu (T80), Redford, has moved back to the States following seven years in Europe to accept the position of manager of the Series 2000 Application Engineering Group at Detroit Diesel Corporation. |
Joseph Patrick Sypniewski (P81), Petoskey, has opened Northern
Michigan Obstetrics and Gynecology, a private office in Petoskey. John A. Wilkins (B81), Owosso, and his partner have been listed among Farm Bureau Insurances top agents of the year in Michigan for sales and service. Wilkins is co-owner of the White-Wilkins agency in Owosso. Anthony C. Buysse (E82), Mahwah, N.J., has won a Telly Award,
one of the television industrys highest honors, for his production
and videography on a documentary about the Habitat for Humanity organization. May Zeller Lyngklip (B82),Whitmore Lake, has completed her
bachelor of science degree in Hospitality Management at Eastern Michigan
University. Kevin J. Harbin (B84), St. Charles, graduated from Asbury
Theological Seminary with a masters of Divinity. Ordained in 1997,
he is now serving the St. Charles and Brant United Methodist Churches. Ronald J. Hosking (B84), Liberty, Mo., was recently named
assistant district inspector general for audit for the Great Plains District
of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. His office in
Kansas City, Kan. will oversee a four-state district. John R. Carlson (E85), Orange City, Fla., is a data entry
operator at Profit Recover Group in Longwood, Fla. Bruce A. DuHamel (AH85), Hemlock, a sanitarian with the
Shiawasee County Health Department, was re-elected as treasurer for the
Michigan Environmental Health Association. David Becker (O86), Coldwater, owner of Becker Eye Care
in Coldwater, has joined the staff at Homer Vision Center, Inc. Daniel R. Tereau (AS86), San Francisco, Calif., received
his MBA from Yale University in 1996. He is now director of Strategic
Planning and Business Development with Del Monte Corporation in San Francisco. James Brian Harper (B87), Bellaire, is the new Kalkaska
County 4-H Youth Agent. Mary Ann Tremaine Spring Stoner (E87), Dexter, was promoted
to sergeant after 12 years with the Ann Arbor Police Department. The 1990s Randall R. Maddock (AS90), Big Rapids, taught math and science
for four years at Big Rapids High School. He earned his masters
in Counseling in Dec. 97 and is now the Junior and Senior Counselor
at BRHS. Christine Sarti-Kapitula (B90), Wake Forest, N.C., now works
for IBM in Research Triangle Park, N.C. as a support service manager.
Christine married Craig Kapitula in 1995 and gave birth to their son Alex
Michael on 8/26/98. Jason M. Bialik (B91), Manistee, has been promoted to national
retail sales manager at Gray & Company, the worlds largest processor
of sweet cherries.

Craig T. Carberry (E91), Carson City, has accepted a position
with the Michigan State Police post in Brighton, having successfully completed
20 weeks of intense training at the 117th Michigan State Police Trooper
Recruit School. Jeffrey P. Crouse (B92), Reed City, director of finance for Reed City Area Public Schools, is now a Michigan Certified School Business Administrator. Thomas E. Bertram (E93), Jackson, has been named Leoni Township
Police Departments first sergeant. Bertram served as an officer
on the force for five years prior to his promotion to sergeant. Christopher Campeau (T93), Ludington, recently won first
place in a regional tool and die apprentice competition in Grand Rapids.
He has been employed with Port City Machine and Tool Co. in Muskegon for
five years. James A. Everett (T94), Jenison, is employed by E.W. Bliss
in Hastings as a senior electrical engineer. Misty Ann Long (E94), Fife Lake, new graduate of the 117th
Michigan State Police Trooper Recruit School, began local patrol duties
with the MSPs Newaygo Post. Rachel K. Aube (AH95), Rogers City, recently received her
Registered Record Administrator credentials from the American Health Information
Management Association. Aube is currently employed by Alcona Citizens
for Health, Inc. Colin E. Broadworth (E95), Parma, has attained the rank
of Marine Cpl. in his service with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine
Division, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Scott M. Cross (B95), Waconia, Minn. has been promoted to
sales manager for Productive Software Systems, Inc. Laurie Ann Field (E95), Jackson, is the new director for
the Spring Arbor Senior Center. Michael C. Palmer (B95), Ludington, has been named manager
of commercial insurance for Lenz & Associates, Inc. of Ludington. Jason Richard Slater (E95), Fenton, has been promoted to
the rank of detective at the Fenton Police Department. Donald K Haynes, (B96), Saginaw, joined the tax department
at the Bay City headquarters of Laine, Appold & Co., a firm of certified
public accountants and business consultants. Carrie A. Tabor (E96), Mt. Clemens, a corrections officer
at the Macomb County Sheriff Department, has accepted a position as a
part-time officer with the Capac Police Department. Joel H. Schmidt (T97), Petersburg, has attained the rank
of Marine Pfc., having successfully completed basic training at Marine
Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Michael J. Smith (E97), Detroit, has graduated from the
Detroit Police Academy and is now serving as a law enforcement officer
for the City of Detroit. Keith E. Lambert (T98) has joined the staff of Gould Engineering
Inc. in Grand Blanc Township. Thomas C. Wiles (T98) has joined the staff of Gould Engineering Inc. in Grand Blanc Township.
