Class Notes

The 1950s
Alfred Holman Jr. (P’55), Litchfield Park, Ariz., and his wife Shirley recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Victoria Ann (Wojciechowski) Dykema (P’59), Frankenmuth, Mich., has retired from Covenant Healthcare Pharmacy after more than 37 years of service. She plans to spend time with her grandchildren, at her Lake Michigan cottage, and showing pedigreed persian cats in Great Lakes region competition.

The 1960s
Don Colizzi (B’62), Charlotte, Mich., has retired as senior vice president of Davenport University.
Charles (Chuck) Davidson (B’62),
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., is president of C.S. Davidson & Associates, Inc. and recently marked his 40th year as a manufacturer’s representative. He also was recently recognized for his work as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem representing the interests of abused children.
Jon Tanja (P’62), Riverchase, Ala., was awarded the Doc E Award, named for the founder of Camp Seale Harris for Children with Diabetes. Jon has been volunteer pharmacist/educator at the camp for 19 years.
Roger W. Anderson (P’64), Houston, Texas, has been head of the division of pharmacy at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for the past 25 years and recently was elected president of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy for 2002-2003.
Robert Scranton (AH’64), Brighton, Mich., retired from state service after 40 years in official public health.
Dorothea Epple (AS’68), Omro, Wisc., completed a Ph.D. in clinical social work from the Institute of Clinical Social Work in Chicago and is now an assistant professor in school social work at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.
Roger Sharp (AS’69), Swartz Creek, Mich., is president of Sharp Funeral Homes Inc. and was recently appointed to The State Bank’s board of directors.
Don Vincent (B’69), Chelsea, Mich., won the 2002 Joseph F. Engelberger Award, the robotics industry most prestigious honor. The Engelberger Awards recognize outstanding individuals from around the world for achievements in robotic technology development, application, education and leadership. Vincent is executive vice president of the Robotic Industries Assn.
Bill Zweng (B’69), Marine City, Mich.,
was appointed supervisor of Cottrellville Township. He was township treasurer for nearly 30 years.

The 1970s
Douglas Weldy (T’70), Buchanan, Mich., was named Freightliner/ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Technician of the Year. He is an Automotive Service Excellence certified master medium/heavy truck technician employed by Hill Truck Sales, South Bend, Ind. He received the award at a ceremony held in Redondo Beach, Calif., last November.
Michael Oginsky (T’71), Warren, Mich., was transferred from Prototype to Design at the G.M. Tech Center, where he paints and details concept cars.
Richard Couture (B’72), Tuscon, Ariz., recently retired from the position of principal auditor with the City of Tuscon, where he was employed 28 years.
Timothy Chaffee (T’73), Saline, Mich., was re-elected vice-president of the Saline Board of Education.
Mark Kuyawa (AH’74), Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., was elected to a second term as President of the Florida Water Quality Association. Mark, a vice president of Commercial and Industrial Sales for Atlantic Filter Corp., is also serving his fifth year as chairman of the Government Affairs Committee of FWQA. He is married to Sue Gosline (AH’73).
Rod Clute (AS’75), Jones, Mich., was named deer specialist by the Department of Natural Resources.
Karen Lord (B’76), Marysville, Mich., is now vice president of Eastern Michigan Bank.
Denise Lovay-Gravlin (E’76), Linwood, Mich., was named Outstanding Dental Hygienist of the Year by the Mideast District Dental Hygiene Society.
Mike Bennett (E’77), Cheboygan, Mich.,
is now director of the Cheboygan County Council on Aging.
Thomas Forsberg (E’78), Freeland, Mich., is now first lieutenant and commander of the state police Bridgeport Post.
Richard Thoune (AH’78), Iron Mountain, Mich., is now director/health officer for the Dickinson-Iron District Health Dept.
Susan (Mayo) Davis (B’79), Fort Wayne, Ind., has been promoted to finance manager for General Electric Company’s appliance motors business.
Bill Martin (E’79), Attica, Mich., received his master’s in social work and counseling from the University of Michigan and practices outpatient psychotherapy at Hillside Center
in Flint.
Gayle Metts (T’79), Hart, Mich., is celebrating 20 years in business as Gayle’s Headlines with a renovated hair salon and expanded services.
Tom Reichard (AH’79), Kalkaska, Mich.,
is now full-time food service coordinator for District Health Dept. 10.

The 1980s
Michael Collins (P’80), Saginaw, Mich., has earned a certification of added qualification from the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties as a menopause educator.
Sarah Emmons Nutter (B’80), Herndon, Va., was appointed to the Northern Virginia Transportation Accountability Committee by Virginia Gov. Mark R. Warner.
Tim (Rock) Ehgotz (E’81), Aurora, Colo., was selected as the 2002 Faculty of the Year at Pickens Tech in Aurora, where he serves as the Dean of Students.
Scott Seamon (B’82), Saginaw, Mich., has opened a State Farm Insurance office.
Robert Danneman (AH’83), Ocala, Fla., has been awarded a Doctor of Science in Environmental Studies.
Dale Maupin (P’83), Interlochen, Mich., opened Medigap Pharmacy in Traverse City.
Mike Morgan (P’83), Flint, Mich., joined the staff at Satow Drug Store in Frankenmuth.
Michael Reilly (B’83), Farmington, Mich., recently received a B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems from Tulane University in New Orleans.
Alan Stadelman (AH’83), Oscoda, Mich., was installed as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Oscoda.
Gail Ploe (AS’85), Houghton, Mich., has joined Western U.P. District Health Dept.’s public health and education division as a health education prevention specialist.
Martin Overholser (T’86), Dexter, Mich., is a paramedic and station coordinator for Huron Valley Ambulance in Chelsea.
Kathleen Askler (B’87), Battle Creek, Mich., opened her own computer education and consulting business, specializing in instructor-led education of standard software or proprietary-based software.
Lori Bebee (AH’87), Bay City, Mich., was named associate financial planner by MetLife Financial Services.
Daniel Glidewell (T’87), Holland, Mich., is now employed at Segway, LLC of Manchester, N.H., as one of the company’s three instructors in the USA, writing instruction manuals and teaching classes around the nation.
Bridget Sawmiller (B’87), White Lake, Mich., and husband welcomed their first child, Audrey Elizabeth.
Deborah (Carr) Schelling (O’87), Osseo, Mich., is the proud new mom of Amber Nicole.
Kimberly Culp (P’88), Stockbridge, Ga., wed Anthony Jenkins, also of Stockbridge.
Deborah (Coger) DeRidder (P’88), Las Vegas, Nev., is employed by University Medical Center.
Ed Fournier (B’88), Monroe, Mich., recently earned the title of personal financial representative for Allstate Insurance.
Darren Kroczaleski (E’88), Sterling, Mich., was named superintendent of Pinconning Area Schools.
Eddie English (T’89), Huber Heights, Ohio, is employed at Frank Z Chevrolet, has two children (Megan, 5, and Eddie, 4), and vacations in Gaylord, Mich.
Noelle Gable (AS’89), Grand Rapids, Mich., is working at Cornerstone University as a development project manager and volunteering with inner-city, at-risk youth of Grand Rapids.
J. Christopher Hanford (O’89), Traverse City, Mich., has moved his optometry practice to Sam’s Club Optical.
Eric Nordquist (AH’89), Davison, Mich., and his wife Sally had their second child, Allison Nicole. Eric continues to work as a professional counselor in private practice at Perspectives of Troy.

The 1990s
Frederick Combs (T’90), Ceresco, Mich., is a Navy Petty Officer 1st Class on deployment to Rota, Spain, while assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Seven.
Shawn Coughlin (AH’90), Saginaw, Mich., was named administrator at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Center.
Julie (Mattson) Hahn (E’90), Portage, Mich., was named “Teacher of the Year” for the Parchment School District for the 2001-2002 school year.
Robert Robinson (B’90), Frankenmuth, Mich., is a senior agency automation support analyst with Frankemuth Insurance and earned an associate in information technology.
Bruce Anderson (B’91), Boyne City, Mich., has joined Fifth Third Securities as an investment executive in Traverse City.
Gregory Ball (B’91), Goose Creek, S.C., recently received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Pensacola, Fla. He is a Navy Ensign.
Jamie Beauchamp (B’91), Marquette, Mich., was promoted to manager in the audit department of Makela, Toutant, Hill & Nardi, P.C.
Amy Dwyer (P’91), Saginaw, Mich., is now a part-time compounding pharmacist with Healthway Pharmacy.
Patrick Hnizda (T’91) and wife Sheryl (Billmeier) (AS’94), Midland, Mich., announce the birth of their daughter Abigail. Patrick is with Quebecor World Pendell and Sheryl with Midland Center for the Arts.
Eric Patterson (AS’91), Grand Rapids, Mich., was promoted to director of Campus Safety at Davenport University, downtown Grand Rapids location.
Stacy (Judd) Visockis (P’91), Lowell, Mich., and husband Ed celebrated the arrival of their fourth child, Tori Alexandra, who joins brother Jacob and sisters Katelyn and Alyssa.
Traci (Bomia) Bammert (P’92), Portage, Mich., works part-time at Rite Aid and cares for her son Alex and daughter Alli.
Dan Hutcheson (T’92), Howell, Mich., was named interim director of Howell Parks and Recreation.
Patrick Smith (P’92), Fountain Hills, Ariz., was promoted to director of Clinical Account Management.
Steven Mathews (E’93), Leslie, Mich., married Cherie Romanak of Jackson.
Stephen Morse (T’93), Clinton, Mich., was appointed coordinator/instructor of construction technology at Northwestern Michigan College.
Brian O’Neill (B’93), Harbor Springs, Mich., is a golf pro and was awarded the 2002 Junior Golf Leader Award, presented to a PGA member who exemplifies the ideals of those who work with youth.
Steve Ventura (B’93) and Amy (B’93) Ventura, Lake Orion, Mich., announce the birth of their first son, Anthony.
Brian Vicary (B’93), Lansing, Mich., was promoted to assistant vice president of Independent Bank South Michigan.
Darren Blount (E’94), Perrinton, Mich., was recently promoted to Lieutenant with the Lansing Police Department by his best friend and fellow alumnus, Chief Mark Alley.
Matthew Frelich (B’94), San Jose, Calif., married Katrina Shiposh of Brighton.
Paul Kester (B’94), Traverse City, Mich., is now director of finance and fund accounts at the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation.
Alison Malaski (E’94), Flushing, Mich., wed Matt Hopkins of Flint.
James Palmateer (E’94), Rancho Viejo, Texas, is a U.S. Border Patrol officer in Brownsville.
Robert Rossow (P’94), Linden, Mich., recently left his pharmacy manager job at Rite-Aid and opened his own independent pharmacy in Flint, about which his wife Jessica, son Nicholas and daughter Katelyn are very proud.
Laurence Wade, Jr. (T’94), Ironwood, Mich., is the new owner of Case Surveying in Bad Axe.
Kenneth Adamski (B’95), Norton Shores, Mich., now manages corporate banking relationships at Comerica Bank.
