Football Team Caps Emotional Season With Awards Banquet

When freshman linebacker Matt Sklom died after collapsing during a routine tackling drill in September, the Bulldog football team completed the emotionally charged season with an overall record of five wins, five losses and an appreciation of the qualities it takes to persevere both on and off the field.
At their annual awards banquet, the Bulldogs recognized players who exemplified that perseverance.
Lineman Jason Feasel was selected the team’s Most Valuable Player. In addition to receiving MVP honors, Feasel was selected as the team’s co-Most Valuable Defensive Lineman, which award he shared with senior defensive end Bo Moore.
Junior tailback Derek Fudge was presented with the Most Valuable Offensive Skill Player after eclipsing the 1,000-yard single-season rushing mark for the second time in his career.
Receiving the year’s most poignant award was frosh defensive end Delvon Jackson, who earned the Matt Sklom Memorial Tomorrow’s Team Defensive Player of the Year Award.
