Ferris Mausoleum in Highland View Cemetery

Celebrating 125 Years!

The kickoff of our year-long celebration begins on September 1 with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ferris Mausoleum at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Join Ferris President David L. Eisler, City of Big Rapids Mayor Mark Warba, area legislators and members of the Town Gown as we recognize how Woodbridge and Helen Ferris changed the Big Rapids community and the State of Michigan forever when they established their school here in 1884. The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. with special guests, the Reverands Jon Fleming and Jerena Keys from the United Church.

September 1 is the official release of the Coffee Table Book "Ferris State University: The First 125 Years." The book will be available at James L. Lundberg Bookstore, a division of Barnes and Noble, the Ferris Ice Arena Pro Shop, Great Lakes Book and Supply and the Old Pioneer Store and Emporium.

The 125th Time Capsule Project will begin. Visit the link to learn more about the project and the guidelines for materials to include.

Special Event! There will be a Ferris history trivia contest for all students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members! Prizes include music downloads for students, official 125th t-shirts, copies of the coffee table book and a special luncheon for the winners hosted by President Eisler!
