Progress on University-wide Goals (6 Overarching Initiatives)
    from 2004-2005 Task Force Recommendations

Goals

  • Renovate and improve classrooms, technology, and furnishings with a goal of addressing all classrooms in a five-year timeframe.

  • Initiate a University-wide effort to create a consistent message\identity as part of a truly integrated marketing program for our institution.

  • Assess the effectiveness of current student engagement efforts and compare these to national data and models.

Student engagement involves people all across our campus and efforts that are both in and out of class, and on and off campus. One of the challenges the student engagement task force identified, is assessing the effectiveness of our current activities. Fortunately there is a national measure that we can use. The National Survey of Student Engagement is currently administered to over 700,000 students on 850 college campuses across the nation.

  • Develop and implement a hardware replacement cycle for faculty and staff computers based on a matching funds incentive program between central and division-level support and the reassignment of replaced equipment.

  • Design and implement a meshed wireless network that covers the campus footprint.

  • Develop a funding formula which rewards colleges for enrollment growth.

Sustained enrollment growth is very important to the future of our University. To have the capacity to teach increased numbers of students, the growth of academic programs must be tied to increased base budget support. As designed this enrollment funding formula seeks to flow tuition dollars from increased numbers of students to academic colleges.
