Message from Michael Hughes, Associate Vice President:

FSU’s Physical Plant organization is responsible for the development, enhancement, maintenance and stewardship of the university’s physical environment.   Our organization employs 150 full time staff and over 100 part time student employees.

Our Mission:

The Physical Plant will provide well-maintained facilities and grounds that are clean, safe, functional and attractive. Our emphasis is on quality, professionalism and customer service.

Responsibilities for the Big Rapids campus include:

• Facilities Planning
• Design
• Construction
• Operations Maintenance
• Roads/Walks/Parking Lots/Grounds & Athletic Fields
• Utility Systems

 

Capital construction project expenditures have averaged $20 million per year over the last five years exceeding $101 million during this time frame.

The Physical Plant is also responsible for a variety of operational services including:

• Custodial Services
• Solid Waste management and recycling functions
• Environmental Safety
• Energy Management
• Project Management
• Mail
• Transportation Services
• Moving (Campus Services)
