Office of Student Conduct

Disciplinary Process

  1. A person files a report with the Office of Student Conduct (OSC). Reports can be filed by students, faculty, or staff.

  2. OSC Director or Designee
    Minor Residence Hall Violations
    1st or 2nd Offenses involving Alcohol
    Cases involving Suspension or Dismissal

    or

    OSC Director / UCD
    Sexual Assault Violations
    Physical Assault Violations
    Academic Dishonesty Violations
    Cases involving Suspension or Dismissal

  3. Letter of Notification is sent with hearing information to student

  4. Individual Hearing Officer or University Committee on Discipline
    Meet with the student
    Clarify Student Rights
    Review the Report
    Hear the Testimony
    Determine if Student is in Violation
    Issue Sanction if Warranted

  5. Letter of Decision is sent to student

  6. Student Accepts Decision- Case Closes

    or

    Student submits an appeal subject to conditions of the appeal policy

  7. Appeals are sent to the Dean of Student Life for decisions involving Official Reprimands or Disciplinary Probation.

    Appeals are sent to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs for decisions involving Suspension or Dismissal.
