Here is an account of the Launching of the Steamer Topinabee
as was described in a local paper
(publisher, exact time and date TBD).

LAUNCH OF THE TOPINABEE

About a hundred people went to Charlevoix on the Hazel last Monday to witness the launch of A. L. Hamill's Inland Route steamer, the  Topinabee.

Everything passed off pleasantly, the christening being done by Miss Daisy Hamill, who broke the bottle across the bow in customary style as the boat slid gracefully into the water.  Capt A. E. McCabe delivered as appropriate address, paying a deserved tribute to Mr. Hamill's ability and energy in making a success where others had failed, and in contributing so largely to the attractions of the resort region.  He spoke so eloquently that some of the boys asserted the A. E. must have extracted the champagne from the christening  bottle and substituted vinegar in place of it.

The Topinabee will be perfectly adapted for the charming and romantic route, and will go into commission about the first of July.  It is expected that she will be brought to Petoskey for inspection during the G. A. R. encampment.
