The "cycle" of Injection Molding machine is normally described in the following sequence:

Clamping
     The Movable Platen and the "B" side of the mold are moved into "Clamped/Closed" position, and clamping pressure is applied the exceeds the necessary  injection pressure.

Filling and Packing
    Material is "Fed" into the Sprue, Runner, Gate, and the cavity, Gasses contained in the cavity are released via vent (.002-.010) opening at the last point of fill.

Hold / Cooling
    The longest period of time in the cycle, is the cooling phase.  This time is approximately 75% of the entire cycle time.

Ejection
    After the material has solidified adequately, the parts can be ejected from the "B" side of the mold.
