Part I Part II Part III Part IV

In recognition of the need to maintain acceptable standards for professional curriculum performance, as well as academic achievement, the following academic progression requirements shall apply to all students enrolled in the MT and MLT programs. In order to progress in the program, a student shall maintain:

  • At least a "C" in each course carrying a prefix of CLLS and BIOL 205 (or equivalent) designated by the faculty as required professional courses;

    AND

  • a 2.00 cumulative grade point average;

    AND

  • No student will be allowed to enter the clinical experience or graduate from the program with less than a 2.00 cumulative GPA, or with a grade of less than "C" in any of the required professional courses.

A student with a deficiency in one of the above conditions may petition in writing for a one semester probationary/trial period to bring their academic record up to a minimum for continuation. Conditions for this probationary/trial period will be determined by the Department Head and program faculty in conference with the student. Only one probationary/trial period will be allowed during the program sequence.

You must meet with your academic advisor at least once per semester to discuss progress toward graduation. You will receive a progress report at the beginning of each semester. This report will list your current GPA, GPA in CLLS courses, and any deficiencies in progress, such as being behind schedule intaking general education courses, or not having a prerequisite for a course you will need to soon.

If you earn less than a C in any course with a CLLS prefix, in BIOL 205, or if you fail any course on your program checklist, you will be placed on Progression Review Status regardless of your GPA. The Department Head may deny you permission to continue in the program. You will need to develop a plan to remove the deficiency, by retaking the course, earning a minimum GPA in the next semester, or meet other requirements in order to be reinstated in the program.

You have the right to request an exception to this policy. This request must be made in writing, and addressed to the Department Head. Your request must include:

  • what exception you are requesting (accepting a grade lower than C, for example)
  • specific reasons why you believe you should be granted this exception
  • your plans for continuing progress toward your degree

Because your progress may require adjusting your academic schedule, this request is due by the first day of the following semester.
