L S INITIATION CEREMONIES
FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY
March 31, 2001

The 6th annual initiation ceremony of the Ferris State University Chapter of Lambda Sigma was held  on campus on March 31, 1996. A total of 6 new student members and one honorary member were inducted into this surveying honor society.  The students represent the top of their class.
	The president of the Lambda Sigma Chapter, David Proctor opened the meeting of the group.
The officers of Lambda Sigma during the 2000/2001 school year include: Jason Juras, Treasurer Scott Hendges, Secretary Carolyn Kieft, Vice President David Proctor, President
	Each year the chapter selects one recipient for induction within the chapter as an honorary member of LS.  This years recipient was Wayne Lewis, PS.  Wayne is a graduate of Ferris State University and is the owner of a surveying firm in Alpena, MI.  Here Wayne is offering a few words of wisdom at the induction ceremony
Wayne Lewis is being inducted as an honorary member of LS by the president, Dave Proctor.  Wayne is being recognized because of his contributions to both the Surveying Engineering Department at Ferris and because of his activities within the profession.  Mr. Lewis currently serves as a member of the board of directors to the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors.
	The current officers are shown with the Wayne Lewis as the students begin the ceremonies.
The new inductees for 2001 included: Wayne Lewis, PS, Richard Powers, Christopher Gower, Karl Brandys, Rocco Corsetti, Timothy Platz, and Nathan Van Raemdonck
I	n this picture the new inductees are shown with Professor Carl Shangraw, PS, Department Chair, Surveying Engineering Department.  Professor Shangraw is also the faculty advisor to the LS chapter.
At the end of the induction ceremony, all of the current members of LS in attendance at the induction ceremony gather for a group picture.
	The ceremony is a family affair.  Members bring their spouses, children, parents, and significant others.  Here, Tim Platz and his wife are showing off their new daughter.  Will she be a future inductee to the only national surveying education honor society?
