Welcome to Bob Burtch's Home Page. Let me answer some of the questions you may ask.
Who are you?
This is a good question. I am a Professor in the Surveying Engineering Program at Ferris State University (FSU). In that capacity I teach courses in surveying, geographic information systems, photogrammetry and geodesy. I am also a Professional Surveyor in Michigan (Michigan State Board of Professional Surveyors) and a Certified Photogrammetrist through the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS ).
Why do you have this home page?
I have created this home page to help the students taking my classes and to provide colleagues with information about other activities that I am involved with. The power of the web is the exchange of ideas and information. Feel free to browse through the different pages and let me know of any suggestions you may have. As always, web pages are a continual work in progress so "Under Construction" signs will not be shown.
For information on the classes I am teaching or have taught since starting this web page, please refer to the following table. Since I do not teach each of these classes continuously, some may be out of date. If there are errors or omissions that you see, I would appreciate your feedback so that I can make these pages more useful for the intended audience - students in my classes. If you are not a student in one of my classes, you are still encouraged to browse and learn. At the bottom of this page you can find links to other topic areas that I have looked at for students to browse at their convenience.
What else do you do?
I am involved professionally and would like to encourage students to become involved as well. This includes organizations such as the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors, which represents surveyors within the state, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS ), the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), and the Institute of Navigation (ION) who speak for the profession at the national level.
