Burt and Mullett Student Chapter
Wild Game Dinner
On October 29, 2002, the Burt and Mullett Student Chapter of ACSM hosted their annual Wild Game Dinner. This dinner is an annual affair where the students prepare all of the food themselves. As usual, there was plenty to eat and the cooks are to be congratulated for their work.
This year the guest speakers were Joe Gallo, V.P. of Operations and Chad Mostoller, Chief Surveyor, from the Quecreek Mine. While there were many who were involved in the rescue of the nine miners trapped in the Quecreek Mine, the chapter and guests were interested in both the rescue effort itself and the role that surveying had in this rescue effort. Joe and Chad gave an excellent presentation that was well received by students and guests alike. For more information on the Quecreek Mine disaster read "Quecreek Rescuers Save Nine Trapped Miners" written by Steve Fiscor that was printed in Coal Age.
