Norm Schippa was presented with an honorary membership into Lambda Sigma for his valuable contributions to the Surveying Engineering Department over the years.  Norm had retired earlier in the year.  He had served as the Equipment Room Technician where he was responsible for the dispensing and care of the field surveying equipment.  Over the years he developed a special bond with the students.  He was not only their friend but also confidant.

The second honorary member inducted in the spring of 2002 was Richard Sauve.  Rick is an alumnus of the Surveying program here at Ferris and over the years distinguished himself as an expert in surveying using the global positioning system (GPS).  He has also been instrumental in his support of the department.  Rick works as the Leica Geosystems state representative.
Norm and his wife Marilyn listening at the Lambda Sigma induction ceremony.  Both have been long time supporters of the program and the university and both have forged important relationships with the students within the program.

The Lambda Sigma members attending the 2002 induction ceremony are shown in the picture on the right.  One of the exciting aspects of these ceremonies is the number of members who return to their alma mater for this event.
