Support for Ferris State University Conference Attendees

Again this year, the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning will provide travel support for as many as 40 faculty who wish to attend the conference.  The Faculty Center has paid a single bulk registration fee (see details in Table 1) and reserved rooms at the Fairfield Inn at a significantly reduced rate.

In addition, a block grant of up to $385 for travel costs associated with the conference will be provided to each of 40 faculty.  Details of the specific costs that are covered by the block grant are provided in Table 2.

Table 2. *You are welcome to stay at another hotel.  Should the room rate be higher than that at the Fairfield Inn, the block grant will provide $76.50 toward the cost of each night's stay, up to 3 nights.  If the room rate is less, the block grant will cover the full cost for up to 3 nights' stay.  ** We've rounded this to $385.

Registration and Travel Procedures for Ferris State University Conference Attendees

What follows are steps to take to register, make travel arrangements, and ensure proper reimbursements for your participation in the 8th Annual Lilly Teaching and Learning Conference.

  1. To ensure that you are one of the 40 faculty for whom support is available, please contact Laurie Daniels via e-mail (danielsl@ferris.edu) or phone (231.591.2440) to indicate your interest in attending the conference.
  2. Once Laurie confirms the availability of travel support, then submit your registration form according to the instructions at: http://www.facit.cmich.edu/lilly/registration.shtml. If you have confirmed with Laurie that you are included in the 40 faculty who received grants, please indicate "PO" for your payment choice.
  3. If necessary, make hotel arrangements.  If you wish to stay at the Fairfield Inn (phone number 231.932.1324), please request a room from the "Ferris block" by August 25, 2008.  After that date, the room rate will increase.
  4. Submit, as you do for all travel, a travel request form to your Department Head or Chair.
  5. Enjoy the conference!
  6. Upon your return from the conference, submit a travel expense voucher to your Department Head or Chair for the necessary approvals needed for the reimbursement of your expenses.
  7. Your department secretary will need to provide Laurie Daniels a copy of the travel expense voucher with the necessary approvals.  Once received, the Faculty Center will initiate a transfer of funds to reimburse your department.
