Tuition Waiver
Ferris faculty receive eight (8) hours per
semester of academic credits free. These can be used by immediate family members
of the faculty member or themselves.
Tenure
Each new tenure track faculty
member will receive a copy of the tenure guidelines from his/her department. A
tenure committee will be established for each new faculty member during the fall
semester of 2004.
Promotion
Promotion policies are
different by college but the number of promotions that are guaranteed each year
are spelled out in the FFA union contract agreement.
New
Academic Policies
Class attendance
Policy strongly recommended by Vice President for
Academic Affairs in 010, 100 level and 200 level; courses. Sample policies can
be found at
http://www.ferris.edu/htmls/administration/academicaffairs/attendance.html
Ferris State University Seminar (FSUS
100) is now required for all first-year students. FSUS 100 is a one-credit
orientation to college course—it is free to the student. It is one of the
centerpieces of the retention efforts at FSU.
Mid-Term Grading of
Students. Strongly recommended Students will no longer receive academic
warnings but actual grades in the course as of the mid-term (October, 2004).
Faculty will need to post grades on-line. Grade reports will be available to
students on-line and will be sent to their home address. This process is being
implemented based on success several other colleges have had in using this
method to help students more clearly recognize where they stand in the course. |
