Changing Schools or Transferring Credits?

Most of the bachelor degree programs are designed as transfer programs with Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) and require 30 or more transferable credits earned at GRCC or at other institutions in order to be admitted. However, the primary exception occurs with the BAS, Digital Animation and Game Design degree program where students are accepted upon completion of a high school diploma with an acceptable grade point average and appropriate scores on the ACT test.

When transferring credits into the University, courses that are directly used in the major, core, or related electives of a degree program must have “C” or better grades. In the General Education section of associate and bachelor’s degrees, a student can transfer a grade less than a “C” if the student has completed an associate degree with or without a MACRAO Agreement. If a general education course is considered a programmatic requirement in a specific degree program, then the transferring grade must be at a grade of “C” or higher. For students not possessing an associate degree, the transfer course grade requirement is a “C” or higher for all courses being transferred. Students can consult the checklist information of a degree program on the website regarding programmatic requirements or consult with a Ferris advisor.

Students can also consult www.ferris.edu/admissions/ or www.ferris.edu/admissions/edawg/transfer.htm regarding transfer policies and course transfers from Michigan’s college, universities and approved technical schools and Ferris equivalencies.
