Have you ever thought about a career in 3D animation?
Or wonder how they make the video games you play?

Maybe you just have a love for computers and creativity and want to see what can be done using the latest and greatest technology. If so, then Ferris State University-Grand Rapids has the perfect Summer Camp for you!

Students ages 14 to 17 are eligible to attend a one-week computer workshop to learn the fundamentals of 3D animation and game design. While this is a basic animation course, students are expected to have solid familiarity with a Windows PC computer environment.

Each summer camp workshop session will run Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm. We’ll have a special screening of student animation created during the workshop, open to friends and family on the last day of the camp.

In Beginning 3D Animation, students will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and animation. Students will develop a small 3D animation that will be presented on the afternoon of the final day of camp.

In Beginning 3D Game Design students will have the opportunity to plan, model, script, and create game levels using a 3D real-time game engine. Students will develop a small 3D game level that will be presented on the afternoon of the final day of camp.

Advanced 3D will build on skills from the Game Design and Animation camps. Students will expand on lessons learned in the Beginning classes and have the opportunity to create more extensive game levels and/or animation. This camp session is only open to students who have completed at least one previous camp session in animation or game design.
