Digital Animation and Game Design

Admission Portfolio Requirements

The Digital Animation and Game Design (DAGD) program requires a student portfolio as part of the admission process. The purpose of this portfolio is to demonstrate skills and passion in the areas relevant to DAGD. The portfolio will be used as part of the evaluation process in determining admission in to the program. DAGD has a limited number of seats and students with the strongest portfolios and transcripts will be given preferential treatment. At the same time, it should be understood that students looking to enter the DAGD program are not expected to already be experts, so passion and potential will weigh heavily into the evaluation process by our committee.

Presentation Requirements:

Portfolio submissions MUST BE MAILED – email files and/or links will not be accepted.

Portfolios must be limited to 10-20 samples of work on standard letter paper (8.5”x11”), CD, or DVD (please note that we are a PC program and do not have the ability to review MAC content).

Send copies – do NOT send originals. Portfolios will NOT be returned, but will become part of your student file.

If your portfolio is available as a web site, please mail a letter with the URL of your site. This letter will become part of your file.

Recommended Content:

Samples can be in a variety of formats and cover a wide range of skills and topics. Please note that while we are technically savvy, it is in your best interest to keep digital files to standard file formats (JPG, PDF, AVI, SWF, etc.) – if we are unable to review the material, we will be unable to evaluate it. Portfolios may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Traditional Art Samples (drawings, paintings, life drawing)
  • Digital Images and Video
  • Animation (traditional, 2D, 3D, pencil tests)
  • Storyboards and Comic Books
  • Writing Samples (design documents, stories, business presentations, essays)
  • Programming (code samples, games, applications)
  • Audio Samples (music, sound effects, dialogue)
  • Web Sites
  • Resume

Authorship:

It will be assumed that all work presented in a portfolio will be the candidate’s unless otherwise CLEARLY indicated. Plagiarism and/or copyright infringement will not be tolerated and will result in a candidate being removed from consideration. An admitted student found to have “cheated” on his/her admission portfolio may be subsequently dismissed from the program.

Submission:

All portfolios should be sent to:
