Turning Off System Restore
Student Technology Services (STS)

Windows XP:

• Click start
• Right-click My Computer
• Click Properties
• Click the System Restore tab
• Select "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives
• Then click "Apply" and click "Yes".

Windows Vista:

• Click on the Windows Logo in the Lower Left Corner (the Start Menu)
• Right click on "Computer"
• Click Properties
• Click "System protection" under Tasks on the Left
• Click "Continue" when prompted by the User Account Control
• Uncheck all of the options listed below "Automatic restore points"
  and "Available Disks"
• Click "Turn System Restore Off" when prompted
• Click "Apply" and click "OK"
