Retention and Graduation Requirements
In order to be in compliance with the requirements of the Honors Program, retain your
honors status and be awarded an honors medallion upon graduation, you must follow
the guidelines:
- Maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA; if my cumulative GPA is < 3.25 for two semesters in
succession then I shall be dismissed from Honors.
- Live in an Honors floor for the first two years of college.
- Maintain a record of good citizenship on campus/in the residence hall.
- Attend three cultural events each semester and submit an electronic report on each
within two weeks of attending; in junior and senior years instead of individual reports
I will write an assessment which is due at the end of the academic year.
- Complete 15 hours of service each semester; report hours to the Student Volunteer
Center.
- Join a team or RSO (Registered Student Organization) - first semester, freshman year
- on campus; hold a leadership position by junior or senior year; submit one RSO
report electronically at the end of each academic year (freshman and sophomores).
- Meet with peer mentor at assigned times during the first semester of freshman year.
- Accumulate 10-12 credits in honors classes with a C (2.0) or better. These classes
include COMH 121 and HNRS 100 freshman year; six honors general education credits
sophomore years.
- Attend a Strategies for Educational Success workshop if cumulative GPA is < 3.25 in
fall or spring semesters of freshman or sophomore years.
- Attend the Honors Senior Symposium annually.
- Present a poster at the Honors Senior Symposium in April of junior or senior year.
- Schedule a Senior Exit Interview with an honors coordinator during my last semester
on campus.
