After Audubon
Dimensions for each: 27 x 40 inches
Price for each: $600

After Audubon is M. Bernard Loates' recreation from 29 selected plates in Audubon's original "Birds of America" collection. Loates utilized the original paintings to check his proofs for color accuracy. The edition is limited to 1000 sets and 100 publisher proofs, signed and numbered by the artist. The prints are multi-color processed images. The methodology included stripping color from the original engraved black Havell print image, after which as many as 90 individual colors were reapplied one at a time, resulting in the most complex, yet consistent plates produced of Audubon's works. The inks are hand-mixed, high pigmentation, and light fast. The paper is custom made, 100% rag, acid free and neutral pH with Loates' personal watermark. The printing process has won the Phoenix Award and Strathmore Award of Excellence.
