PURPOSE:
The purpose of this lab is to introduce the student to the construction of dot density mapping using ArcView.
PROCEDURE:
1. Copy the lesson from the server. The lesson is located at m:\caf\apps\gis\arcview\workbook\dotden. Copy this folder to the local, C, drive in a TEMP folder. Within the "dotmap" folder there are three files and a data folder. Use Word to display the instructions for this lab. These are located under the "dotmap" Word icon.
2. Complete the lesson. Include as a part of the lab a copy of the tobacco theme based on state agriculture along with the final map created in the layout.
3. Submit a lab report that outlines the steps used to complete this assignment.
QUESTIONS:
1. Identify the general rules for dot density mapping.
2. How is the dot symbol size changed in ArcView when in Layout?
3. Why is the map based on the state agriculture theme different than the final map produced using the county agriculture theme?
4. What is the purpose of the View Frame Properties menu?
