Robert said:
"This semester, I was fortunate enough to get this job in the diversity office as a research assistant as well as a job as a tutor in the tutoring center. I met the chief diversity officer David Pilgrim during an Honor's section of Minorities in America that I took in the fall. After completing the course, he approached me and offered me this job. Honestly, taking his class had a huge impact on how I look at things. However, it was not just that class that has impacted me, but college in general. I feel that a college education is very important for people to really experience how the world works and to help shape them into the persons they will become. I have changed a lot since high school, but I believe these changes are shaping me for the better. I feel I have developed into someone that can appreciate diversity in all of its implications, and am excited that I have a job that can promote this new passion for tolerance across campus and in my future. Tolerance is something that I believe is essential for people to be able to get along, work together, and be a benefit to society. As a future teacher, I hope I can be a strong role model for my students and peers-a mentor that can help them appreciate the importance of tolerance and diversity in their lives."
