College life can be hectic enough without worrying about where and what you can eat. As a vegan student, I understand how difficult it can be to find food available to you that you are able to eat. However, Ferris State Dining Services are working to make this problem disappear. The Rock Cafe is the main dining facility that caters to vegetarian/vegan diets, but other dining facilities are becoming more vegan/vegetarian friendly, too. There is a variety of vegan soups offered daily, vegetarian entrees, salads, and other healthy foods that would meet a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. Also, vegan and vegetarian foods have been labeled and grouped to make them easier to locate. New recipes are being researched and tested to give the dining facilities even more of a selection for vegan/vegetarian students. If you have any questions or suggestions you can contact dining service's dietitian, Brenda Walton, at 231-591-3747, or Assistant Director Board Operations and Ancillary Services, Bryan Marquardt, at 231-591-5960. In addition to Brenda and Bryan, we also have a vegan student on staff willing to meet and discuss vegan/vegetarian questions. |
