Ferris’s Surveying Engineering students won first place in the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping 2006 national surveying competition in Orlando, Florida.

The Ferris’s team included four students: Elizabeth Chesla, Nick Battjes, Matthew Gotham, and Jacob Dunham. They had to perform astronomical observations, accurately calculate the azimuth of a line using sun measurements, and write a 30 pages report about the topic.
