New Admission Requirements

Subject: Welding Technology and Welding Engineering Technology Program Admission Requirement Revisions

After extensive data review and trend analysis of success predictors, the Welding Engineering Technology Department has revised the admission requirements, effective fall 2006 semester, for the Associate in Applied Science degree in Welding Technology and the Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering Technology programs to better serve the students, university, employers and alumni. See details below:

 

Welding Technology (AAS) program admission requirements: Effective fall 2006 semester:

  1. Meet University admission standards

  2. Meet College of Technology admission requirements

  3. MATH 116 placement (Math ACT 19) or CLEP

  4. ENGL 150 placement (English ACT 14) or CLEP

Previous requirements:

  1. Meet University admission standards

  2. MATH 110 placement (Math ACT 15)

Welding Engineering Technology (BS) program admission requirements: Effective fall 2006 semester:

  1. Application for admission submitted by February 15 prior to Fall term requested Associate in Welding Technology

  2. A minimum 3.0 honor point average overall

  3. Satisfy all prerequisites to enter MATH 126 (MATH 116) Note: Prerequisites to enter MATH 216 preferred

  4. Satisfy all prerequisites to enter EEET 301 (EEET 201)

  5. FSU PHYS 211 – Introductory Physics I or equivalent transfer course

  6. FSU ETEC 140 – Engineering Graphics Comprehensive or equivalent transfer course

  7. FSU MATL 240 – Introduction to Material Science or equivalent transfer course

Previous requirements:

Application for admission submitted by February 15 prior to Fall term requested Associate in Welding Technology

A minimum 3.0 honor point average overall

Satisfy all prerequisites to enter MATH 126

 

Admission Cycle: Evaluation completed by the WET Department Chair upon referral from FSU Admissions Office Ferris State University Welding Technology program graduates: Application for admission submitted by March 1 prior to fall term requested. Applications will include fall semester grades. Admission status will be tentative pending review of graduation and final grade/course information status.

 

Transfer Students: Application for admission submitted by February 15 prior to fall term requested. Applications will include fall semester grades and current winter schedule (if applicable). Transfer students will be admitted in the order they are received provided all admissions requirements are met and program space is available. Admission status will be tentative pending review of graduation and final grade/course information status. Should space in the program not be available, qualified transfer applicants will be placed on a waiting list and admitted as openings occur in the order they were received.
